This receiver can do MPEG2
DVB-S & DVBS2 4:2:0 SD & HD & MPEG4 H.264
This unit is made for Europe
and has some issues on North American High Bit Rate
HD feeds. It will stutter when trying to play them
with the software version 2.44, which is the best
version to use for Blind Search. Vantage did try and
fix the problem and came out with newer software,
2.54 and it has an Audio offset feature which does
allow for some of the Higher Bit Rate feeds to play
good or better, but some are still not perfect and
the newer version of software does not blind scan as
well.
The receiver from the factory
will boot up in the PAL mode. I hook them up and set
them to NTSC and also provide an SCART to Composite
A/V Adaptor with the unit, so if it ever gets back
into the PAL mode, you can use this adapter to hook
up to an NTSC TV set with Composite Video and this
will stop the PAL Rolling and allow you to see the
Menu in Black and White and navigate the menu and set
the unit back into the NTSC mode.
Also on some TV sets, when
hooked up with the HDMI connection, the picture can
blink to Black and then back to a picture when in the
MENU. This does not happen with all TV sets, but does
on my Mitsibishi. It does not do this when on a
Channel and playing Video, but just in the menu. So
it will depend on your TV set and if it has an up to
date software to be able to handle all of the
different types of HDMI.
This is a GREAT Feed Hunters
Unit. Be
